PROJECT MANAGER/CONSTRUCTION MANAGER - GOVERNMENT CULTURAL PROGRAMS

Seeking motivated and experienced (CM/PM) Construction Manager with construction program technical education and experience to join us at the Alabama National Cemetery Construction Project. Candidates will report to a Program Manager as well as collaborate and assist VA client staff to provide data, generate reports, as a representative for the client on major cemetery construction project. The National Cemeteries are considered a National Shrine and a National Monument and require the care and honor due our military veterans.

Responsibilities:

Project Manager will provide leadership, quality assurance and construction management expertise. Additionally, they will provide decisive direction in regard to business, technical and personnel management involving multi-disciplinary and diverse functional activities. Project Manager will be required to learn, teach, and implement industry, client, and internal company best practices related to project delivery, budget, schedule, quality and operations for these national monuments. Project Manager will require experience leading and mentoring a team of professionals and experience as an advisor/liaison with the client (user groups, design team, contractors, and facility engineering representatives). The CM services will be used to support traditional Design-Bid-Build and Design/Build contracts. A summary of the major tasks is below.

  • Overall management, in terms of technical quality, cost and schedule.
  • Maintains daily progress reports and inspection reports. Leads the inspection and quality assurance team assigned to projects to ensure timely and effective project oversight.

Required Qualifications:

  • Licensing: None Required (PE preferred)
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering or Architecture from an accredited University OR 20 years of directly related experience.
  • Experience: a minimum of 10 years of field construction experience with site civil, civil engineering, and construction management project experience both vertical and horizontal construction. Individuals shall have experience with utilities, drainage, earthwork, site work, irrigation, contract documents, submittals, RFIs, and considerable overlap with other construction trades, i.e. architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, irrigation, landscaping, hardscaping.
  • Certifications: OSHA 30 hour
  • Leadership: Must possess the skillset and competency to supervise and manage the personnel of diverse skillsets

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Federal projects and with the VA in particular.
  • Experience/Licensing in the geographic area and experience on projects with budgets ~ $30 million
  • CCM, CQM, PMP
  • Experience with vertical construction and MEP systems may be rated higher
