Position: Mechanical Systems Commissioning Agent
Salary Range: $115,000 - $125,000 / year
Workplace Type and Location: Remote, with frequent travel (Approximately 50% Overnight, Prefer SC, NC, VA, TN)

SIRIS is looking for an experienced Mechanical Systems Commissioning Agent to join our Commissioning team.
SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:
Holds technical on-site responsibility for assigned projects involving complex systems and equipment. Must be familiar with equipment types and control strategies in higher complexity building types such as healthcare and research. The Commissioning Agent shall have extensive knowledge of testing, adjusting, and balancing (TAB) of HVAC systems and experience in evaluating the TAB process. The Commissioning Agent shall have extensive knowledge and experience in the operations and troubleshooting of mechanical systems. Provides mentoring and training to less experienced colleagues.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provides a high level of service and responsiveness toward clients and other project stakeholders
- Organizes, schedules, and attends meetings with contractors, clients, and/or the Commissioning team to schedule activities, discuss progress, and resolve issues as they arise.
- Prepares commissioning plan documentation, which is made up of process descriptions, outlining roles and responsibilities, and creating pre-functional checklists and functional performance test documentation.
- Prepares project site visit reports that document all commissioning activities, communicating technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Acts as a technical expert in the field to support Commissioning activities, demonstrating technical competence and attention to detail for clients.
- Assists contractors in determining the cause(s) of non-compliant performance of equipment and systems; performs necessary follow-up work and documentation.
- Performs and reports on project job site visits to investigate field conditions, monitor progress, and ensure conformance to Construction Documents during construction.
- Assists management in the training, mentoring, and evaluation of less experienced colleagues.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Commissioning Team members shall have knowledge and experience in building operations and maintenance and experience in developing and providing systems-level training for O&M personnel is desired.
- Commissioning Team members shall have experience in developing, implementing, and/or optimizing system control strategy and sequences.
- Familiar with construction practices, materials, standards, and design requirements.
- Speech Clarity – the ability to speak clearly and in a common language so that others can understand you.
- Detail-oriented – the ability to achieve accuracy and thoroughness when accomplishing a task; pays attention to details and is able to understand the cause of a certain outcome.
- Technical Writing Skills – skilled in the area of summarizing or explaining technical information in a clear, concise, and accurate way, communicating the point intended.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent direct technical experience in mechanical equipment service or start-up, temperature controls or systems TAB
- Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of applicable experience in commissioning mechanical systems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certified Commissioning Agent (CxA, CBCP, CCP, BCxP)
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Frequent overnight travel (about 50% of the time) by airplane or car is required
- Requires frequent travel to construction sites; position is home-based when work travel is not required
